The Marj Owen Spay and Neuter Fund

We are honoured to have had Marj Owen in our lives, and we are likewise honoured to announce that we’ve named our spay-neuter program in recognition of her ongoing contributions to the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes, both as a volunteer and as a donor. Marj was there, in the early days of establishing our local Humane Society, cleaning cages and kennels, serving on the Board, and spearheading our spay neuter fund by collecting and recycling aluminum cans. Her enthusiasm and good nature set an example for us all, and she will be sadly missed.

If you would like to make a donation please click on the following link and specify that the monies be directed to "The Marj Owen Spay and Neuter Fund". Thankyou!

Facts

  • The pet overpopulation crisis is a direct result of animals left unaltered
  • Spaying and neutering is a straight-forward medical procedure with many health benefits, including the reduction in the risk of developing certain cancers and illnesses
  • For every home you find for an animal that you have bred, a home is lost for a shelter animal.
  • Breeding to "see the miracle of birth" demands that you also "see the tragic results". Visit a shelter.
  • Animal overpopulation has reached a crisis point in this country.
