LUKE

All is well...Luke seems to be well adjusted now, and is quite comfortable climbing into our bed and scattering all the dog toys around the house. Luke and Charlie are now friends. He loves his stuffies, and steals them form the kids room. We are thrilled to have him, and are quite amazed at what a good dog and a lot of fun he is.

MARLEY

Hello, it has been 2 years since we found Marley at your shelter. I thought it was time to give you all an update on how he is doing, and thank you for taking such good care of him while he was waiting for his forever home.

For the staffers who remember Marley, you will remember a young, scared and frustrated dog who needed some work with obedience. I am thrilled to tell you, he has turned out to be the most wonderful dog we could ever hope for. He is loving, fun and playful and he is a loyal companion. In fact, over Christmas I became quite ill. I spent about two weeks in bed, with a raging fever and was pretty much out of it. As dogs will do... Marley laid on my feet the entire time, and refused to leave me. Strangely, he kept licking my legs and putting his nose on my legs, which I found rather annoying at the time because my legs were sore to the touch... well, I believe Marley was actually trying to tell me something. I found out a couple of days later that I may of had a blood clot in my calf, which developed due to being bed ridden. Marley is an amazing dog and we love him very much.

Warm Regards,

Kim

GABRIEL

Hey Guys! I adopted Shadow (now named Gabriel) from you guys in December. I just wanted to let you know that he is doing wonderfully, I can't imagine life withut him. He is so full of life , he makes a wonderful companion. His favourite toy is a peacock feather, which he chases around for hours on end.

He loves to travel, and loves making new animal friends. He is afraid of nothing, even big dogs that want to lick him to death. He is the king of any house he enters, and he knows it too!

I wanted to thank you guys for giving me the chance to adopt such a wonderful animal. Life would be so dull without him in it!

MADDIE

Hi everyone, I just wanted to send some pics of Maddie out playing in the snow with the kids. She just loves being outside and she has so much space to run here, and oh boy can she run. She's pretty much settled in, thinks she owns the place. Maddie has settled down alot, she still gets excited when people come to visit or when she goes for a walk with her friend "Jack" next door. We love her very much and are very happy with her.

Bye for now, Joan and Maddie

NELLY

Hi Lyn and staff;
Wanted to update you on Nelly and Buddy.  They are doing well, having fun and we love Nell, tho she is a challenge at times.  No matter what she does, however, and how many times she escapes us, she comes back willingly when called.  So Steve and I once again want to thank you all for your caring ways.  We don't know where our beloved pets would be without your support and courage.

Fondly, Katy Banner.  PS: Nelly loves the cottage and swimming!

Sassy

ROXY

Hi Shelter Staff,

We adopted Sassy (now known as Roxy), an English Setter from your Shelter in March of '06. If any staff was there in 2006 they might remember the high strung girl who could climb her pen and jump about 6 feet straight in the air (when anticipating she was getting out).  She has become a wonderful member of our family and is a fun, happy girl who has the run of our property.  She loves to go to the creek to catch frogs and muck around in all the mud she can.  Thankfully we have the room for her to run and burn off all that energy.  Our family has grown quite a bit since we adopted her and she gets along great with all the new furry brothers and sisters that she now has.  She was well worth the 2 hour drive through the blizzard that day in March.  Thanks to all shelter staff, especially Lynne, who helped with the adoption and kept her safe until we found her.

TINA and GINA

Hello,

I thought I would send you an update on the two kitties we adopted last
fall.  You had named them Brenda and Sue but they are now known as Tina
and  Gina or TT and GG for short.  After a couple of days the kitties and our
two  old poodles seemed to understand that they would be cohabitating and all
has  been well since then.  They are about to turn  a year old and are
thriving.  As you can see from the  pictures they have made themselves at home and  stay  together all the time.  They call to each other in the house when they
can't find each other.  We feel fortunate that the kitties had a place to
go  to so we could find them.  Thank you,

Sincerely, Jeanette and Dave Lang

Hyde

Hello everyone, I just wanted to forward along some pictures of Hyde the kitten who I adopted at the end of July. He's finally grown, (he was so small when I got him!) and he's doing wonderful.
Thanks again,
Annie

Rizzo

Hi:  I adopted Rizzo on August 23, 2008.   She is a lovely dog and very well mannered.  She can be a bit stubborn at times outside, but we're working on that.  She settled in the very first day and has not been a problem at all.  We love her to bits already.

Just an update to show you how Rizzo is making out. I'm able to work with Rizzo a lot more.  She is a lovely dog and is now very well trained.  She loves everyone.  Thanks, Lois Moore

Dallas

Our family adopted Dallas, a 5 year old female black lab, from the Humane Society just over a month ago.  We all have completely fallen in love with her, it's hard not to as she is such a sweet girl.  It really feels like she belongs here, that this is her forever home.  We all enjoy going for walks with Dallas, especially along the rail trail and while she needs to work on her manners while on the leash and sometimes with other dogs, she has improved a lot since we started working with her.  She has also learned to get along with our two cats, Rascal and Nicki, and the cats have learned not to run away from her as that seems to trigger some sort of instinct to chase.  It really is quite amusing to see the cats walking in slow motion when Dallas is in the room!  I do have every confidence that this situation will continue to improve since it is already a lot better than a month ago and Dallas has demonstrated that not only is she a sweetheart but that she is also really smart.  All of our family and friends that have met Dallas also really like her and she was even invited to our friends cottage for the Labour Day long weekend.  I don't know if she had ever swam in deep water before but I did know that she liked to splash around in shallow water, so with the help of our friends and my husband we gradually got Dallas jumping in the lake off the end of the dock and fetching sticks that the kids threw out into the water.  It was great seeing her behaving like a real "lab"!  We had a fun weekend at the cottage and I know Dallas had a great time too.  I am forwarding a picture of her on the deck at the cottage.  Maybe you've heard of a "Barca Lounger"?  Well, we christened the chaise lounge the "Barker Lounger" when we discovered it was one of Dallas's favourite places to relax.  Thank you so much for taking care of Dallas at the Humane Society and letting us adopt her until we could come and get her and bring her home where she really belongs.
